California Storms wreak havoc
"We are just getting repeatedly pounded by storm after storm," said PG&E spokeswoman Tracy Correa Lopez. "Flooding is an issue. The number one issue right now is access to a lot of these areas." More than 375,000 customers lost power in Northern California overnight Saturday. The city of Sacramento still has half the residents without power. And the latest powerful storm has left fallen trees and downed power lines in its wake. Pacific Gas & Electric, deployed around 4,000 crew members to help with the storm restoration effort. Local personnel and contractors are joined by crews from Southern California, Oregon Wyoming, and even as far away as Canada. The Poweroutage.us app that “tracks, records, and aggregates power outages across the United States” shows a breakdown of power companies and counties experiencing a loss of power in the beleaguered state.State of Emergency
Gov. Gavin Newsom has issued a statewide state of emergency last week. And he is asking the Biden administration to declare a federal emergency as soon as possible.
