“We think we’ll be able to launch the acceptance of dogecoin in the first quarter of ’22, just a few months from now – again, on our website and smartphone app,” he said.
The United States’ largest cinema chain has already listed Dogecoin as a payment option for its gift cards.
Additionally, Aron updated followers on AMC’s idea of issuing its own cryptocurrency. He said that AMC has been “exploring with third parties” whether it is feasible.
The CEO said the company believes it has figured out ways where it doesn’t have to hold cryptocurrency on its balance sheet. “So we’re not taking increased balance sheet risk with all this potential acceptance of cryptocurrency,” he added.
AMC shares were up more than 10% at $40.35 on Tuesday.
