The Nebraska State Patrol is leading an investigation into what officials are calling a murder-suicide that has devastated the quiet rural community near Johnson Lake in Dawson County.
Four members of the Koch family—Jeremy, Bailey, Hudson, and Asher—were found dead inside their home Saturday morning in an incident that has sent shockwaves through Central Nebraska.

According to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 9:45 a.m. to a residence at Plum Creek Canyon #1 near Johnson Lake.
Upon entering the home, law enforcement discovered the bodies of Jeremy Koch, 42; Bailey Koch, 41; and their sons, Hudson Koch, 18, and Asher Koch, 16, all with fatal knife wounds. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
Authorities believe Jeremy Koch fatally stabbed his wife and children before taking his own life. The Nebraska State Patrol confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public, but the investigation remains active. Autopsies have been ordered for all four victims by the Dawson County Attorney’s Office.
