Hurricane Beryl Damage

Beryl caused the most severe damage when it made landfall earlier this week on a  small belt of islands in the Eastern Caribbean known as the Grenadines.

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency reported that at least 90% of homes and buildings on three small islands were destroyed or damaged.

This extensive damage highlights the hurricane’s unprecedented power and its catastrophic impact on the region.

On Wednesday following its devastation of the Grenadines, Beryl hit Jamaica. After causing widespread outages and damage it passed over the Cayman Islands. Then headed toward Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

Although the storm has weakened from its earlier state, it remains a very dangerous Category 3 hurricane. As of Thursday morning, Beryl was headed towards to the Yucatan Peninsula with sustained winds of 120 mph.
