Hurricane Debby Hits Florida: Preparing for the Impact

Authorities in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina are urging residents to prepare for heavy rain and possible flooding as Hurricane Debby advances through the Gulf. The cities of Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina, are particularly at risk, with the potential for a month’s worth of rain to fall in just one day. In fact, the storm could deliver an entire summer’s worth of rain over its duration.

Hurricane conditions are anticipated to arrive by Monday morning, with the storm’s outer bands making landfall. Debby is forecast to reach the Big Bend coast around midday Monday and is expected to slowly crawl across northern Florida and southern Georgia throughout the day and into Tuesday.
