A left-wing political group called “Jews for Zohran” has emerged as a controversial force in the New York City mayoral race. There have been recent headlines over its ties to a China-connected billionaire family and its support for Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani is a Democratic Socialist and an outspoken critic of Israel who won the Democratic nomination for mayor on June 24, defeating former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The group is affiliated with the nonprofit Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ), and is spearheaded by Alicia Singham Goodwin, the organization’s political director.
According to the New York Post, Singham Goodwin, 33, led the “Jews for Zohran” initiative to secure Jewish voter support and counter accusations of antisemitism against Mamdani.
Singham Goodwin is the niece of Neville “Roy” Singham, a billionaire tech entrepreneur who moved to Shanghai after selling his company, Thoughtworks, for $785 million.
