 As fans gathered to honor their team's Super Bowl triumph, gunfire erupted, leaving 22 injured and claiming the life of one woman. The parade shooting has brought the issue of mass shootings into the national conversation, once again.

Parade Shooting Victims

Among the victims 22 victims were eight children who were wounded in the gunfire.

A Facebook post Wednesday evening identified Lisa Lopez-Galvan as the woman killed in the shooting.

She was a mother of two adult children. And worked as a disc jockey for the community radio station KKFI and co-host of the program “Taste of Tejano,” featuring Hispanic music. 

Beto Lopez, the president and chief executive officer of the Guadalupe Centers, is her brother. 

The loss of Lisa Lopez-Galvan is deeply felt in her community. Her passion for music touched many lives. Beto Lopez, described her as someone for whom "music is life and a source of happiness." 

Law Enforcement Response

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves condemned the shooting, expressing anger at the events occurring at what should have been a joyous occasion. 

She announced that three people have been taken into custody. Details regarding their identities and motives have not yet been released. It is believed that all the gunmen have been captured.

 The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

Reactions and Fallout

Many of the events were captured in videos circulated on social media. The panic and confusion of the parade-goers was seen as shots rang out. 

Witnesses described scenes of heroism as two men tackled one of the suspects and held him for the police. Others assist the injured. 

The Kansas City Chiefs, in a statement, expressed their profound sadness over the tragedy and extended condolences to the victims and their families. The NFL echoed these sentiments, emphasizing solidarity with those affected by the events.
