Filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, rock band members of the Grateful Dead, and singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt are among those recognized for Kennedy Center Honors.
The honorees were announced by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for their significant achievements and contributions to the arts. This is an acknowledgement of the impact these artists have had on American culture and their enduring legacies.
The 47th annual Kennedy Center Honors will air on December 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and will also be available for streaming on Paramount+ for premium subscribers.
In a historic first, the Kennedy Center is also honoring an institution this year: the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. This special declaration comes as the iconic venue, which has been a champion of Black talent, celebrates its 90th anniversary.
