The lawsuits dismissed this week against actress Blake Lively, actor Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times mark the latest twist in a high-profile feud involving actor-director Justin Baldoni.
Blake Lively expressed “love and gratitude” to those who stood by her and her husband after a federal judge threw out Justin Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit against them.
A federal judge ruled that Baldoni’s defamation and libel lawsuits lacked legal merit and gave him and his studio, Wayfarer, until June 23 to refile a narrower complaint centered on contract interference.
“It Ends with Us” Becomes a Blockbuster, and a Battleground
The legal fight stems from tensions that arose during and after the filming of It Ends with Us, a 2024 film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel.
Baldoni directed and co-starred in the film alongside Blake Lively, which went on to gross over $350 million worldwide. The film follows the emotional and violent dynamics of a romantic relationship and was co-financed by Wayfarer Studios, a company co-founded by Baldoni.
