The U.S. Department of Justice reported that this operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 million doses of drugs. And included a staggering eight million doses of fentanyl- and methamphetamine-laced pills and powders. The estimated street value of these substances is $8 million.
Attorney General’s Response
Attorney General Merrick B. Garland expressed his outrage over the case, stating, “The only thing more depraved than trafficking deadly fentanyl is trafficking deadly fentanyl designed to look like candy to appeal to teenagers. The Justice Department is focused on attacking every link in the global fentanyl trafficking chain, and we will not stop until those responsible for the fentanyl poisoning epidemic are brought to justice.”
The investigation leading to the drug seizure began in July 2023 after an overdose death occurred in Salem, Massachusetts. This incident triggered an inquiry that eventually exposed a drug trafficking operation believed to be masterminded by Garcia, Bejin, and Felix.
