Helping people flee this abuse will require not just support systems in their personal lives, but also concerted societal efforts. Without this help, many victims will continue to remain at the mercy of those hurting them.

Thankfully, the government of Scotland, UK is implementing concerted action to tackle domestic violence. This work involves a program that will empower women across Scotland with a set amount of funds when they leave abusive relationships.

What to know about Scotland’s Fund to Leave

The Fund to Leave comprises £500,000 and will directly impact Scottish women in Edinburgh, Glasglow, Fife, North Lanarkshire, and South Lanarkshire.

Women within these communities will be eligible for a maximum of £1,000 from this fund. The money in question will help them cover costs for clothing, rent, etc. when they’re fleeing domestic violence-ridden relationships.
