The global diaper industry is on track for steady growth over the next several years, with demand coming from both families with young children and an expanding elderly population. A new market study estimates the sector will rise from about $93 billion in 2023 to nearly $132 billion by 2029, reflecting consistent annual growth of almost 6%.

That expansion is being shaped by shifting consumer habits, health needs, and a growing push toward sustainability.

Why demand is climbing

Two groups are driving sales: babies and seniors.

Baby diapers still account for the largest share of the market, supported by population growth in many regions and higher spending on childcare products. Parents are paying closer attention to hygiene, comfort, and skin safety, leading them to choose higher-quality or premium options.

Adult diapers are growing faster. Longer life expectancy and rising rates of incontinence among older adults have created steady demand for discreet, more comfortable products. Improved awareness and reduced stigma around these products are also encouraging adoption.
