Right now, one primary factor attributed to Threads’ breakout success is its connection to Instagram. Users of the latter platform can easily set up Threads accounts and even have their Instagram followers automatically carry over to Threads.

If Threads continues at its current rate, it may permanently overshadow Twitter in a relatively short timeframe.

Backlash from Elon Musk

Less than one year ago, Musk purchased Twitter, pledging to transform the platform and increase its popularity. Needless to say, the success of Threads significantly derails this agenda.

Musk, so far, has accused Zuckerberg of “cheating” and initiated litigation accusing Meta of using former Twitter employees to create Threads.

Furthermore, the new Twitter owner is on record labeling Zuckerberg as a “cuck,” calling Threads a watered-down version of Instagram, and endorsing a “d*ck-measuring contest” between himself and the Threads founder.

Ironically, the heightened competition between Musk and Zuckerberg comes amid reports of the pair agreeing to a cage fight with one another.
