San Antonio, Texas — A disturbing plot to carry out a mass school shooting was reportedly foiled this week thanks to the bravery and quick thinking of a grandmother who turned in her own daughter to authorities.
Ashley Pardo, 33, was arrested Monday and charged with aiding in the commission of terrorism, after she allegedly supplied her 13-year-old son with ammunition, a tactical vest, helmet, camouflage gear, and firearm magazines — all in preparation for what officials are calling a planned “mass targeted violence” attack at Rhodes Middle School in San Antonio.
The teenager, whose name is being withheld due to his age, had already shown signs of violent ideation, according to an affidavit obtained by USA Herald. His behavioral record reveals a grim pattern of obsession with mass shooters, violent drawings, and ultimately, an alleged suicide attempt.
But it was his grandmother’s actions that led to Pardo’s arrest and may have prevented an unimaginable tragedy.
