[SANTA CLARA, CA] - In the latest episode of rising tensions between the Trump administration and the judiciary, President Trump and billionaire Elon Musk have taken to calling for the impeachment of certain federal judges. Their target: Judges who have issued rulings blocking key investigations into government corruption and inefficiency—specifically the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Musk.

Earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued a preliminary injunction that blocked Musk’s DOGE team from accessing sensitive records held by the U.S. Treasury Department. These records include crucial data on tax refunds, Social Security benefits, and veterans’ benefits, all of which the administration argues are vital for identifying and eliminating government waste.

However, some critics of Judge Engelmayer argue that he has overstepped his judicial authority, adopting an activist role instead of upholding impartial justice. Rather than remaining neutral, they contend that he has chosen to side against the Trump team, shaping his rulings to oppose them.

This week, I spoke with voters on both sides of the aisle. Some say that Democrat senators like Adam Schiff, and Maxine Waters, are intentionally trying to stir up unnecessary panic, suggesting that Musk’s team of college graduate investigators are mishandling your Social Security numbers and private info.

“This is a deliberate lie, meant to incite fear. The truth is, the only ones worried about the DOGE investigations are those trying to hide their past corrupt deals. Before Musk and his brilliant team came along, there were faceless, unscrupulous individuals with the same access to this sensitive information, and no one raised a fuss about that. So why the sudden outrage now that Musk is involved?”  - Said Anna Cortez, a Silicon Valley Realtor

In reaction to the expertise of Musk and his team of investigators, another voter shared the following:

“They know what they're doing. If anyone was stealing your SSN or accessing your private data, why didn’t you care when the Biden administration had your information? Stop pretending to be concerned about what they’re doing with taxpayer data. Musk is working for us, so don’t stress over how they do their job.” Grant Cunningham, Security & Defense, Sacramento, CA
