Both individuals face charges for their failure to adequately respond to the Robb Elementary School shooting.
Arrests and Charges for Arredondo and Gonzales
In June, Pete Arredondo was arrested and charged with 10 counts of child endangerment, as reported by CBS News. These charges relate to the tragic events of May 2022, when an 18-year-old gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary. Arredondo was released after posting bond for each of the charges.
Adrian Gonzales was indicted on 29 counts for failing to respond appropriately during the active shooter situation.
Court documents allege that he had the opportunity to follow active shooter protocols but failed to act. Gonzales was also released on bond after posting $10,000 for each count.
Both Arredondo and Adrian Gonzales have pleaded not guilty.
Victims’ Families Continue to Seek Accountability
For the families of the victims, the legal proceedings are deeply emotional. Jesse Rizo, uncle of victim Jackie Cazares, commented, “[It’s] very emotional. I knew the day was going to come. I wasn’t sure how long it would take,” in a statement to CBS News.
