Dr. Jerald Tennant has taken legal action against his stepson, Scott Tennant, asking a Texas federal court to issue an injunction to prevent the continued sale of "micro-current therapy medical devices" that allegedly infringe on his trademarks. The request follows the cancellation of Scott Tennant’s licensing agreement due to claims of underreported sales and unpaid royalties.

Texas Doctor Sues Stepson

According to Dr. Tennant, his stepson has ignored multiple cease-and-desist orders and continues to market the devices under the disputed trademarks. The elder Tennant argues that without immediate court intervention, his brand’s reputation and associated goodwill are at significant risk.

Dr. Tennant, who initially registered the trademarks for the medical devices in 2005, entered into a 20-year licensing agreement with Marten Group Inc., Scott Tennant's company, which operates as Senergy Medical Group. However, the relationship soured when Senergy allegedly stopped providing accurate sales reports and royalty payments.

Suspicions led Dr. Tennant to demand detailed monthly accounting, revealing that his stepson had allegedly underreported device sales, resulting in millions of dollars in lost royalties. Despite terminating the licensing agreement, Senergy continued to sell the trademarked products, prompting Dr. Tennant's legal action.

Scott Tennant, however, paints a different picture. In a countersuit, he accuses his family of attempting to oust him from the business after he refused to hand over Senergy’s customer list to his brother, John Tennant, and his wife, Teresa "Terri" Jessen Tennant. Scott Tennant claims his family's efforts to monopolize the business stem from their failure to transition customers to their own supplement company, Curador.

The family dispute has escalated into a fierce legal battle, with both sides trading allegations of breach of fiduciary duty and unjust enrichment. As the case unfolds, the court's decision on the injunction could have significant implications for the control and future of the micro-current therapy devices' trademarks.
