Chinese state media: US a ‘rogue country,’ TikTok acquisition is theft

The article claims that Chinese tech companies have “brought a sense of crisis to U.S. elites, which shows that China’s top companies have the ability to move to the forefront of the world in technology.”

In addition, the paper goes on to claim, “When similar things happen time and again, the U.S. will take steps closer to its decline. The U.S. is a pioneer in global internet and has created Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. But in recent years, the U.S.’ internet structure has been rigid.”

China Daily, another state-backed publication, issued a comment following Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s comments on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” claiming what Pompeo is saying is “tantamount to inviting potential U.S. purchasers to participate in an officially sanctioned ‘steal’ of Chinese technology.”

If one thing is clear, it is that Trump’s stance towards Chinese tech has struck a chord with the politburo in Beijing, hence the grandiose claims and posturing. In recent decades China has experienced a meteoric rise and has made it to the forefront of the global stage acting as a direct competitor to the U.S.
