These demonstrators’ main objective was to push President Biden into not accepting any infrastructure legislation that fails to address climate change; it is worth noting that yesterday’s White House demonstrations occurred after news of Biden reaching bipartisan agreement with GOP lawmakers.
Sunrise Movement protesters also held up various signs noting their grievances. Some of the signage read “our future is not negotiable” and “Biden, you coward, fight for us.”
These left-wing activists also didn’t hesitate to block various entrances to the White House either. Furthermore, Democrat Reps. Cori Bush and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made appearances at the White House protests yesterday.
Will the demonstrations make a difference?
Monday does not mark the first time that the left has chastised Biden for not being liberal or progressive enough.
Another instance like this arose surrounding the issue of student loan debt. Many Democrats believe that Biden should cancel loan debt across the board; however, the 46th president made clear months ago that he will not do this.
