Pixar’s “Elemental,” with a $200 million budget, reached only $154 million domestically and failed to surpass $500 million worldwide. This paled in comparison to the 2015 release of “Inside Out,” which made $357 million domestically and nearly $860 million worldwide.
The pre-Thanksgiving release of “Wish,” billed as a film “a century in the making” to commemorate Disney’s 100th anniversary, proved to be mainly wishful thinking.
After grossing roughly $50 million domestically and just over $125 million worldwide, it faced significant losses against its reported $200 million budget.
The House of Mouse Future Uncertain
As Disney looks towards 2024, the box office calendar remains uncertain due to lengthy actors and writers strikes that paralyzed Hollywood.
Planned releases, including Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” and Marvel’s “Deadpool 3,” are on the horizon, but the delay of the “Snow White” live-action remake, initially set for March 2024 and now slated for March 2025, hints at ongoing challenges for the House of Mouse.
