Cassidy Hutchinson’s Testimony

The report, released on Monday, has received a flurry of responses, particularly from Republicans. They claim that four White House employees did not corroborate key aspects of Hutchinson's testimony. And her testimony was all hearsay. 

Hutchinson, a central figure in the select House committee's investigation into Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and disrupt the certification process on January 6, has been at the center of a heated political storm.

Hutchinson's testimony, which alleges that Trump attempted to seize control of the presidential limo's steering wheel and engaged in a physical altercation with his lead Secret Service agent, has been met with skepticism by some. 

The driver testified to the Jan. 6 committee "that he specifically refuted the version of events as recounted by Hutchinson," the report says. "The driver of the SUV testified that he 'did not see him reach [redacted]. [President Trump] never grabbed the steering wheel. I didn’t see him, you know, lunge to try to get into the front seat at all.'"

The report indicates that while some witnesses acknowledged Trump's irate mood following a speech at the Ellipse, no one has substantiated the more sensational claims made by Hutchinson.

In a letter to Representative Barry Loudermilk in January, Jordan affirmed Hutchinson's commitment to truthfulness and her refusal to be swayed by pressure campaigns aimed at discrediting her testimony.

She also released a book of the events. 

The release of the House committee's report comes amidst a broader political landscape characterized by partisan division With Trump is not facing a likely rematch with President Joe Biden this year he may also encounter potential legal repercussions for the Capitol riot.
