Actor Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, are mourning the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona. The family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement, describing Fiona as a loving, smart and creative young girl who loved to dance. Fiona was the middle child of Lowe and Painter. The couple also have daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Lowe and Painter have been married since August 2010.

News of Fiona’s death came after parents at the school she attended received an email from the principal informing them that a student had died. According to Page Six, the message did not identify the student by name and told parents that counselors were available to provide emotional support to students and staff.

The circumstances surrounding Fiona’s death have not been publicly detailed by her family.

Chad Lowe Remembered his Daughter

Lowe had continued to celebrate his daughter publicly on social media. In November 2025, he marked Fiona’s birthday with a photograph of her smiling while wearing cowboy boots.

“I look at the world, really, from their perspective,” he said during the podcast appearance.

Fiona’s death comes after another devastating experience for the Lowe family.

In early 2025, Lowe shared photographs of his daughters visiting what remained of their childhood home after it was destroyed in the Palisades fire in Los Angeles. The images showed the three sisters standing together and embracing.

Lowe praised his daughters for the way they handled the traumatic experience, describing their spirit and resilience as remarkable.

“Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose,” he wrote at the time. “Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”

The family had already faced a difficult period as they dealt with the destruction of their home and the emotional impact of losing a place filled with childhood memories.
