WGA announces breakthrough in writer’s strike  

In a heartfelt message to its members, the WGA praised the resolve of its membership, acknowledging that the gains made in the contract negotiations were a direct result of their collective power. In New York alone, the disruption caused by 11 major production halts resulted in a loss of $1.3 billion and 17,000 jobs, according to Empire State Development.

The WGA is exploring the possibility of authorizing its members to return to work even before the formal ratification of the agreement by the union's members. This could potentially mean a rapid resumption of work for writers.

Insiders familiar with the situation express optimism that the studios' agreement with the writers may pave the way for a resolution with the actors' union, SAG-AFTRA, which has been on strike since mid-July, representing approximately 160,000 actors.
