Thirteen states are seeking Biden administration records of FBI surveillance of parents protesting school boards.
Thirteen states have signed on to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
They are seeking Biden administration records on FBI surveillance of parents protesting school boards. And the plaintiffs in the case are Indiana, Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah.
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, who previously served in the US House of Representatives, is the lead attorney in the case. The lawsuit was filed against President Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona.
There is some concern that the full force of the Feds is being used to fight culture wars in this country. And that the Feds are cooking up any excuse (hence the NSBA letter) to get involved in the average citizen's life.
White House and NSBA collaborated
There are claims that Education Secretary Cardona solicited the National School Boards Association’s (NSBA) much-criticized letter. The letter dated September 29th compares parents to “domestic terrorists.” And calls for the Feds to get involved in local school boards to target unruly participants in school board meetings.
It was sent to Biden and compared protesting parents to domestic terrorists. It also asked the Patriot Act to be used against them.
The National School Boards Association denounced the letter and issued a public apology on October 22. But Attorney General Garland Merrick had already convened Federal government resources including the DOJ, FBI, and Homeland Security to take care of the “threats.”
Thirteen states seek records
Educational groups, state school boards, and members of the U.S Commission on Civil Rights criticized the administration for their part in issuing the NSBA letter. And the DOJ for responding to it without any real evidence.
In a letter to Garland, half of the eight members of the Commission on Civil Rights requested “specific examples” of “harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence.” They also accuse Garland of “conflicts of interests” with his son-in-law’s business of critical race education.
The Education Department has denied that Cardona collaborated on the letter. And they have been unable to explain how Garland was able to react so quickly to the NSBA letter to Biden. He sent a memo to the FBI within a few days of the date on the letter.
Garland was able to send a letter in record-breaking time to the FBI to mobilize Federal Officials against parents who did not agree with their local education officials.
