Aguilar-Cano’s vehicle, suspected to be connected to the crime, was found abandoned in the Houston area. The vehicle that was found is a tan 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe with the Texas license plate KVZ-1194.
The Wilmer Police Department made an announcement in a news release on Friday, that the child had been located in Mexico.
Despite the circumstances, Wilmer police expressed some relief, indicating that they now believe Ian is with family in Mexico. And his father is no longer with the child.
The investigation, however, remains ongoing, emphasizing the need to verify Ian’s safety and well-being.
Ian’s sister, Zuri Lopez, said on social media Friday that Ian is a U.S. citizen, autistic, requires a special diet and medications, and needs to be brought home immediately.
Authorities are also trying to ensure Ian can be reunited with family members in North Texas.
As authorities intensify efforts to locate Aguilar-Cano, Wilmer police urge anyone with information about Ian’s abduction or the suspect to contact them at 972-441-6565.
