Due to the pandemic in 2021, the 2023 Oscars ceremony was hosted at Union Station, located in downtown Los Angeles, to accommodate physically distanced seating. However, last year, the event returned to its previous location, the Dolby Theatre, which has been its home since 2002 and is situated at the Hollywood & Highland Center. The upcoming 2023 ceremony will take place at the same venue, which has been renamed Ovation Hollywood.
Who Is the Host of the 2023 Oscars?
Following three consecutive years of hostless ceremonies, the 2022 Oscars enlisted Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes to share hosting duties, which received mixed reviews. However, for the upcoming ceremony, the hosting responsibilities will be handed back to Jimmy Kimmel, who previously hosted in 2017 and 2018. It was during his first stint that the infamous mix-up occurred, with Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway mistakenly announcing La La Land as the Best Picture winner, before the mistake was corrected and Moonlight was awarded the accolade. Kimmel, a comedian and talk show host, will undoubtedly strive to avoid similar incidents in the future. In a statement released on November 7, 2022, Kimmel joked, “Being invited to host the 2023 Oscars for a third time is either a great honor or a trap. Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”
