Approximately 32,000 outages were reported by customers initially, with figures escalating to over 50,000 by 7 AM, primarily concentrated in major cities like Houston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. The surge peaked at over 71,000 just before 8 AM ET, indicating the scale of the disruption.

Other Providers Impacted

AT&T’s outage rippled across other cellular providers, with Verizon, T-Mobile, and Cricket Wireless also reporting service disruptions.

While Verizon and T-Mobile clarified that their networks remained intact, its customers attempting to contact AT&T users experienced difficulties.

For Cricket Wireless, a subsidiary of AT&T, over 13,500 customers reported outages initially, gradually subsiding to around 10,000 by mid-morning. The company posted on X assuring its users that they were prioritizing service restoration.

“Allow us to explain that there is a nationwide network incident impacting multiple services. It is Cricket’s top priority to restore service to full capacity as quickly and safely as possible.”

Investigations Continue

Despite the chaos, AT&T managed to restore service for all affected customers. And expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
