President Donald Trump announced that he and First Lady Melania tested positive for COVID-19 and will begin the quarantine process. He announced their situation via Twitter around 9:54 PM Thursday Pacific Time or 12:54 AM Friday, Eastern Time.

Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!

Earlier, Pres. Trump tweeted that his senior White House adviser, Hope Hicks tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!

Hicks tested negative on Wednesday morning before she went to Minnesota where Pres. Trump conducted a political rally. She was reportedly showing minor symptoms late Wednesday and was quarantined on Air Force One on their flight back to the White House. On Thursday morning, her test came back positive, according to NBC News based on information from a source familiar with the matter. The President and the First Lady are now among the more than 7.31 million people in the United States infected with COVID-19 as of this writing. More than 208 thousand people in the country already died from the disease, which Pres. Trump called the "invisible enemy." In a tweet, First Lady Melania said, "We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements."

The U.S. Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) recommends that individuals who have symptoms or no symptoms (are asymptomatic) but tested positive for COVID-19 must isolate themselves. They must avoid contact with other people and wear masks when around other individuals. On Tuesday night, during the first Presidential Debate, Pres. Trump mocked his opponent, former Vice President for always wearing a mask in public. The President said he only wears a mask when needed. UPDATE: The Deputy Assistant to Pres. Trump tweeted a copy of a memo from Sean Conley, the Physician to the President and Commander of the U.S. Navy.
