The Mexican gray wolf is an endangered subspecies of the gray wolf native to North America. And one particular wolf has defied the boundaries set for managing these rare creatures.

Federal biologists have recently confirmed that a Mexican gray wolf, known as F2754, has ventured beyond the designated Mexican gray wolf recovery area for the second time. The wolf has been located west of Jemez Springs, New Mexico.

Mexican Gray Wolf

This remarkable journey of the Mexican gray wolf has led to discussions among federal and state wildlife managers, as they ponder whether to capture and relocate the wolf once again.

F2754 has managed to travel north of Interstate 40, surpassing the recovery zone that spans parts of southwestern New Mexico and southeastern Arizona. The wolf was last tracked to a mountainous area west of Jemez Springs after crossing the interstate west of Albuquerque.
